For Hsiaowen

Walking across the glass roof of ten fifteen, looking down into the main room, I realzied that there is only one true way to admire the full club experience. From above, looking down. Being afraid of heights, it's still a shock that I even went up that high, let alone standing on glass looking down into a dance floor where I have spent so many nights. The ride home from the club was like the icing on the cake. Jackie, Hoj, Dan, and some guy who's name I can never remember were squished into the back of Gun's car. Dan uncovered the long lost tradition of Audi yoga as he layed across the laps of the other passengers. He requested that we all "ohmed." That was pretty funny, especially to those of us who were more sober. Gunita questioned the ohm. "What is this, an opal party?"

The following Friday at 1015 proved to be equally as entertaining. From the Go-Go podium I realized, again looking down, that if you really want to hear the music, it helps to be off the ground. Hsiaowen quickly took a picture of me, while Leslie danced below me, like a fan of mine. Shelly noticed me from the upstairs window looking into the main room. I wish that Sarah had been there so that I could have followed her around for the remainder of the night tapping her on the shoulder saying, "Did you see me in the cage?" She would have enjoyed that.

If you are not enjoying the night life of San Francisco then you are most likely finding other ways to entertain yourself. If you're in the mood to do some shopping, I suggest stopping by Fabuloid in the mission. My friend Carrie has found a home for her fantastic jewelry making. She has been making jewelry for quite sometime now and, after some encouragement, she realized that it was something she should share with the world. Stop in and take a peek at her handmade original line of jewels. www.fabuloid.com

Shopping always works up quite an appetite. When you have a chance, pop over to Laurel Village and check out cafe Rigolo. My friend Jeff is the head chef there and invited me over for dinner the other night. We dined while the restaurant was closed. We sat amongst a row of chairs on top of their tables. Jeff spoiled us with his wonderful creations. Stop in and try some for yourself. For more information check out www.rigolocafe.com.

The only way to top off a day of shopping and fabulous food is to take in a night at the theater. So, why not check out the new World Premiere of the musical "The Opposite of Sex," based on the film starring Chrisina Ricci and Lisa Kudrow. If you do, you'll get to see my pal Ian Scott McGregor light up the stage. I have not had a chance to see the show yet, but after I do, you can expect a full report. The Opposite of Sex runs from 9/25/04 to 10/24/04. For more information check out www.magictheatre.org.

Burning Man

I borrowed Gunita's car while she was at burning man. Tonight, she came home and is in obvious need of some R and R. We took a short walk down to the local liquor store where we bought mac and cheese, the smallest milk available, and one individual stick of butter. I didn't even know you could by butter in such a fashion. As we placed our perishables on the counter I insisted that we use food stamps as this was the most homeless purchase I have ever made. A far cry from my first time buying condoms at target when I was in high school, trying to cover it up by also purchasing a binder, some pens, and other miscellaneous school supplies. We're back at Gun's house and I just made some mac and cheese. Gunita is lying in bed like some kind of senior citizen. See previous posting. Aaron swears that she hasn't slept since 1992. Gunita has been on my case to go to burning man for the past year. The last six months she's really been hitting it home. Hartaj bet my roommate one hundred dollars that he could get me to go this year; I think Monica will be collection from him soon. The weekend was pretty mellow without our local burners but we managed to have a great time at Digweed, which I must say, was one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. While I didn't have the desire to go to burning man, this year, I still have a burning curiosity about the event. Gunita makes me add the clause "this year" because she insists that I'll be going next year. I know that burning man is something I would have to experience for myself, but for the time being, I'd rather hear stories from people who went. Some people went for their second, third, and fourth times, some went for their first. Please take some time to tell us about your experience.
